June 20, 2001 - Network Downtime
San Diego, CA - Due to constraints of our internet
provider, the Adswap network was forced to move it's
server late Wednesday evening to a new location. This was a
big deal and took the efforts of several individuals to
coordinate the shipping and hooking up of the equipment in
the new location in Los Angeles. While the equipment
was in transport Network
Solutions changed over the DNS settings to allow the
internet to find the server when it was hooked up
Wednesday. Everything was fully functional this time as
soon as we brought the box back up.
It's a relief to finally have control over it and
hopefully this is the last move for a very long time. The company
we decided to go with has multiple redundant access points
along with plenty of battery and Generator power in the
event the California starts getting rolling blackouts
again. The total downtime for this move was 24 hours.
We apologize to everyone, we did not have an
opportunity to let you know that this was going to happen.
We decided at the last minute to do it because the the
host in South Carolina had connectivity problems and that
makes any of the pages with our Network code look bad,
along with ourselves.
Please let us know if you are having any problems with
the equipment or software since the move. We noticed that
the menuing is gone from most of the main pages (outside
of ADCenter2000) we are rebuilding those ASAP.
Thank you.
